Our four Co-Founders wanted to put out a quick write up of 2017 & what we enjoyed the most about it before looking ahead to an exciting 2018!
First up, Dominic, who enjoyed increasing exposure for PLATO:
'My past year with PLATO has been brilliant - keeping up with the pace of the company and maneuvering it through difficulties has been exciting and rewarding.
Highlights of the year include bringing in new members to our team, winning awards and joining The Family.
Startups are nothing without the brilliance their members bring, and I appreciate the talent we’re bringing together here.
CVC Capital Partners’ Young Innovator award in the summer was memorable for me and crowned off the year I spent with the NEF - any involvement with an organisation with the record of CVC is valuable, but to be given recognition by them was something very special and I look forward to continuing to work with them.
Finally, toward the end of the year, we joined The Family, which is appears to be a match made in heaven for us and PLATO. Involvement with the members of The Family and their world class culture is going to undoubtedly be insightful and rewarding .
Looking forward then, I’m most excited about continuing to grow PLATO’s network and spread our message. We’ll be rolling out new marketing strategies and releasing our new & improved website in the coming weeks. We’re expecting to do some cool things with our marketing so keep your eyes peeled! Secondly, having executed a number of demos this year I am also very excited about getting our team in the room with some exciting companies and seeing how we can best work with them in 2018.'
Second Co-Founder, Xavier, had great success expanding our team and establishing PLATO within 'The Family':
'Our first year has been awesome. It’s hard to explain without clichés so to run off the highlights; we’ve built an exciting team, we’ve started working with world leading companies and we’ve joined probably the best start-up community in the world (The Family) – not to mention that our technology keeps exceeding every one of our expectations.
To me the biggest highlight has been joining The Family. We’re a fast moving company of awesome people and this is exactly how The Family are too. As PLATO starts to develop our company around our extraordinary technology, having The Family and their other portfolio StartUps will help us build a world class company.
2018 is going to be a big year for PLATO Intelligence. We’re going to continue to build our team, expand our technology and further develop our brand.
Lastly, I just want to thank everyone who has helped us in the last 12 months, we couldn’t have done it without you and we hope to continue to count on your support in to the new year.
I also want to personally thank everyone at PLATO, especially my Co-Founders who have worked so hard to make everything happen.'
Alex, our newest member of the team and head of Technology, is most excited about PLATO's technological capability:
'I’m relatively new to PLATO so much of my time so far has been spent orientating myself to the business and figuring things out. However, in the past few weeks, I’ve been busy working with the rest of the team to expand our core product, perfect our demo and polish off our MVP (Minimum Viable Product).
Creating a product may seem like a simple task, but choosing how to apply PLATO’s technology in a way that provides real value for our customers is not. It’s easy to exhibit the technology in a purely aesthetically exciting way, because it’s so cool, but that doesn’t help anyone all that much. The complexity of this is why we’ve opted for a hybrid approach - we have a core technology and product, but it is tailored to each client to solve their specific problems. No two businesses have the same problem, even if they operate in the same space, so being adaptable is really important.
Our demo is looking great (if I say so myself) and we hope to be distributing it to interested parties soon, please let us know if you’d like to see it and we’ll make sure you do.
The hardest part about an MVP is having to cut out all the awesome features you want to add and leaving just the core functionality. There are so many extras we could include, but for now, we have to focus on version one. I console myself with the knowing that later versions will have a lot more going on, as will the tailored versions of PLATO.'
Finally, Aron, who busied himself in 2017 developing PLATO's outreach and partnerships:
'Our business development push kicked off in 2017 after attending CognitionX London 2017. We met some great companies, and received a lot of interest. After a summer of hard work we had a product we could demo, and began to present to a range of companies and organisations. All could see how PLATO could improve their HR & Recruitment processes; which we were delighted to hear. We are continuing to work with a lot of the companies we've met, and look forward to being able to present them with a full launch in early 2018. It has been really exciting to engage with companies in way of a partnership; we learnt a lot, and we’re sure they did too!
Personally the highlight of 2017 for me was working with my Co-Founders. During the highs and lows of 2017 we put PLATO at the centre, and always pushed harder and set our aims higher. I’m very proud of my Co-Founders for their part in the building of PLATO. 2018 is going to be a bright year.'
